'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Galbraith continues clash with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he recalls the thrilling dying seconds of his team's stunning fightback triumph against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. That match culminated with Galbraith temporarily wearing a supporter's spectacles following the post-goal scrum.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith cracked the upright with a long-range effort from distance, and the defender promptly slammed home the deflection before sprinting toward the East Stand to celebrate, with supporters swarming the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

The victory sealed an unbelievable recovery given the Welsh side had been behind 2-0 during the final 45 minutes. During the celebrations, there was some collateral damage. He shared, "There was a fan shouting out and Josh Key and I were puzzled: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're humans, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Manchester City Challenge

That win secured a next round match at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, a club Galbraith pushed hard at the same stage of the FA Cup with his former club in February. The athletic midfielder had a prime vantage point when his former team took the lead in spectacular fashion, with the attacker's volley from about long distance going in via the crossbar and the City goalkeeper. It feels criminal that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've credited him for attempting the shot from that far out," says Galbraith, who played in the middle before switching to right flank after the team changed formation. That meant getting to grips with City's winger, with whom he swapped shirts, and the attacker was among the City players who praised the way the underdogs attacked the game.

City's Quality

"Fitness-wise they are exceptional but even the basics and simple things, they can just perform consistently," he explains. "It appears that they always find their target and they are adept at control and neutralize a game. You can believe you're doing well and then suddenly they will just deliver a through ball past your midfield without you even noticing. You have to be alert at all times of the game. It requires a tough attitude and focus just to keep pace."

New Chapter

The club were keen on Galbraith in January and secured his signature to sign him in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He established himself as a popular figure across a couple of years at Orient and has swiftly replicated that in south Wales. At his previous team he joined forces once more with Richie Wellens, who earlier gave Galbraith his first extended run in senior football on loan at Doncaster from United. Then came a loan at fourth-tier the Manchester club, before he moved on from his boyhood club.

Growth Journey

"I was probably a bit naive going into senior level. I think a lot of players would say under-23s football is entirely separate. Sometimes it feels like play is circulated without real physicality. There are limited tackles or duels. Once you start playing men's games you have to adjust fast."

National Team Success

He has shown that maturation for his team and nation, performing well for the Green and White Army, who remain in contention for the global tournament next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has featured in the last several matches, including both legs games against the German national team. His former international manager, Galbraith's former international manager, paid him the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he handles the football and his ability to spot a decisive through ball.

Humble Beginnings

It has been a remarkable path for the player from the neighborhood in Glengormley, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who was raised observing his father, his father, also a engine room operator, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Red Devils Debut

His sole appearance for the Red Devils came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a continental tournament trip to the host city, where they played on an plastic turf and the arena covering was closed owing to the weather of freezing cold. "It was a extended travel and it was freezing," he says, grinning. "The preceding week, myself and quite a few of the young lads trained together, so that helped us acclimatise. Just to accompany the senior squad and make an appearance at the end was amazing."

Moving On

How difficult was it to depart Manchester United, the club he transferred from aged his mid-teens? "It was fairly simple, because I arrived at the moment where I understood I wasn't going to make it at first-team level. I'm hugely grateful for the years at the club but it got to the point where I believed I required a fresh start, move to a lower level and play professional soccer. Now I'm slowly progressing again."

New Environment

It is mid-afternoon at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has an appointment at late afternoon: a learner's exam, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Until recently to Sketty, the young professional was a frequent passenger in Swansea's nicknamed team minibus, a small coach driven by club employees, Pete and Howard, which shuttles players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"My companions include a teammate, Ronald, an Ivorian player – the Swedish defender used to be in it but has got his license. It's pleasant to spend time with the guys but I'm planning to be the next one to drive independently and driving. The Portuguese player likes to pull a few pranks; he's frequently playing tricks."

Supporter Connections

While playing for his former club, Galbraith would blend in with followers on London's Central line after starting his journey at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
